MISD has three elementary magnet schools that serve kindergarten through sixth grade students. Students in the magnet program learn standard curricula while being exposed to diverse learning opportunities.
Pease Communications and Technology Academy allows students to immerse themselves in a technology-rich environment. In the Pease studio, students create their own TV show featuring school news, feature segments, local weather, and more. In classes, students compose stories, write text, create media presentations, and effectively utilize technology, preparing them for the future.
The Washington Math and Science Institute is dedicated to making learning fun by integrating hands-on, inquiry-based math and science throughout the curriculum. Math and science labs are equipped with the latest tools to actively engage students in challenging projects and experiments.
Bowie Fine Arts Academy the newest addition to the MISD magnet school program, is a place where creativity is boundless. Students alternate through piano lab, choir, theater arts, art, and dance in 1st - 3rd grades. Students in 4th - 6th grades have the opportunity to specialize in orchestra and band.
